My EXPERIENCES

As a marketing business major at Indiana University South Bend (IUSB), I have gained valuable knowledge and experience, particularly from the professionalism of the professors. They genuinely care about our success, always taking the time to listen to students and address any challenges we may face. Professors are dedicated to providing all the necessary resources for us to succeed and are always available to answer questions. This level of support is crucial, as it motivates students to demonstrate their commitment to working hard, knowing that success requires effort and perseverance. In addition, South Bend, a small and peaceful town, has a welcoming atmosphere. The people here are friendly and it's easy to make new connections. I had a memorable experience when I accidentally missed the timing for an online exam. After explaining the situation to my professor, he kindly gave me a second chance to complete the exam. This act of understanding and support reinforced my appreciation for the professors and the community at IUSB.

What I've learned about my strengths is that I have an unwavering determination and a refusal to give up, no matter the obstacles. I set clear goals for myself and work relentlessly to turn them into reality. When I first arrived in South Bend, IUSB, as a French speaker, was told that it would be difficult for me to succeed. But I refused to listen to the doubt and fought relentlessly to secure the classes I needed to take. Now, I'm on my way to earning my degree, having left behind my family and friends to start this new chapter in my life. Many people cannot make such a bold decision because they prefer comfort and the easy path, but it takes a strong mentality to push through challenges. As I live by the belief that "life belongs to courageous people" and "God loves courageous people," I see myself as a lion—brave, resilient, and always moving forward.

However, I am also aware of my weaknesses because nobody is perfect, and we are all striving to do our best. At times, I can be careless, and I’ve realized that my directness can unintentionally hurt certain people. Though I speak honestly and from the heart, I understand that being too blunt can be perceived as insensitive. It’s a reminder for me to balance my straightforwardness with more empathy and awareness of others' feelings. Recognizing both my strengths and weaknesses allows me to grow and continue learning in all aspects of life.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned during my time at the university is the importance of always trusting in God and in myself. There will be moments of doubt and difficulty, but it’s essential to never give up and to keep chasing your dreams, no matter the challenges. Throughout my journey, I’ve come to realize that life truly belongs to those who are courageous enough to push forward, even when the path is unclear. By trusting God’s plan and believing in my own strength, I’ve been able to overcome obstacles and stay focused on my goals. This lesson will stay with me for the rest of my life, as I continue to face new challenges and strive to achieve my dreams. It reminds me that perseverance, faith, and courage are the keys to success and fulfillment.
